I hear some components are “in beta” – what is that?

Beta components are in-development preview versions of components. They may not be feature-complete, or have been subjected to all the testing “release” components get. They may also contain new features, or fix problems. Details of what has been changed are usually given in forum posts as well as being included in the component history.

Typically, Object Desktop subscribers will have earlier access to alpha and beta components than registered users of standalone components, just as registered users get their versions before the trial versions are released – this is a feature of their subscription, as well as being recognition of the fact that OD subscribers are often more willing to run software that may not always perform as expected.

Stardock provides beta and alpha components as an extra service to customers. If you have problems with beta components, Stardock will endeavour to solve them but cannot guarantee a fix. If you have problems the recommended procedure is to report them to Stardock via the ticket system and then reinstall a previous stable version of the component.
